  • Resumen
    • The implementation of the European Higher Education Area has led to a change in the methods of teaching, leaving behind the system where the professor was the center of attention, shipping into a system where the student has become the center. In order to adapt to this new era of teaching we implemented a comprehensive methodology where Learning and Knowledge Technologies such as Classroom Response Systems, Digital Blackboard and Screencasting applications, were used together with different methodologies that include the flipped learning, gamification and personalized learning. The use of this comprehensive methodology, which includes gamification and virtual reality practices that have help the students to get a better hold of what is coming for them once they step in the working environment, has resulted in an increase in student’s motivation that has led to an improvement in academic performance.Improvement has been observed both by the better marks that the students get in their tests and by questionnaires in which they answer question such as “in a scale of 1-10 how motivated are you in the class”, “in a scale of 1-5 (1 being not at all and 5 being completely) how much easier is it to understand the subject”. Results of the questionnaires show that a 75% of students are extremely more motivated (9-10), and 20% are more motivated (7-8).
