    • Reading is a cognitive activity of great importance, as well as being considered a main educational instrument to access the world of information that, together with the (ICT) Information and Communication Technologies, allows us to learn about an infinite number of digital teaching resources. However, it is necessary to select or design applications that are adjusted to the characteristics and needs of students at their different educational levels. For this reason, it is necessary to consider the deficiencies in the reading habit that occurs in the first years of education, which causes a weakness in the process of teaching and learning throughout life. Consequently, this project proposes to strengthen reading strategies in the area of language and literature for students in Basic Education, through the application and use of stories based on digital pictograms. In this way, the research was developed from the mixed approach applying as data collection instruments the direct observation and the survey that was carried out in the first instance in person through the on-site visit and at the end in a virtual way to 12 teachers selected from different educational institutions. Through the virtual training entitled creation of stories with digital pictograms, it was possible to identify that, among the results obtained, 86% of teachers consider that the use of digital pictograms is very important in the learning process, specifically in the subject of language and literature, Another result that was 100% evident was the creation of stories based on pictograms as part of the reading strategy. Finally, it should be noted that the insertion of technological instruments through teacher training and updating within the educational process is a fundamental element of support in the different subjects of the national curriculum. The use of digital pictograms contributes considerably as a didactic strategy in the subject of language and literature in basic general education.
