    Este trabajo pretende mostrar las gestiones realizadas por Florentino Pérez-Embid desde la dirección general de Bellas Artes para traer el Guernica de Picasso a España. En primer lugar se estudian los trámites gubernamentales para el traslado de la obra de Nueva York a Madrid. Ante la negativa de Picasso se intentaron otras vías no oficiales, que tampoco dieron resultado. Un último recurso acabó en un otro fracaso. La principal aportación del artículo procede de la consulta de documentos inéditos del protagonista conservado en el Archivo General de la Universidad de Navarra

    This article examines the efforts of Florentino Pérez-Embid, Director of the Academy of Fine Arts, to return Picasso’s Guernica to Spain. I discuss, first, the government’s negotiations to bring the painting from New York to Madrid. Given Picasso’s refusal to move the painting, other unofficial channels were explored, though these were not successful, as were other attempts. This essay analyzes the process using unedited documents from Perez-Embid’s personal archive, housed at the Archivo General of the University of Navarra.
