La mandrágora de Hanns Heinz Ewers es un clásico del siglo XX por el lúcido empleo de los símbolos y los arquetipos para construir uno de los más febriles retratos de la feminidad perversa. En este trabajo se analizan las fuentes y orígenes de un personaje tan arquetípico y fronterizo, una mujer fatal heredera de la concepción corrupta que se ha tenido históricamente de la fémina, de su fusión con las aberraciones botánicas y de sus raíces oníricas.

Alraune of Hanns Heinz Ewers is a classic of the twentieth century for the bril- liant use of symbols and archetypes. It builds one of the most fevered portraits of perverse femininity. This paper analyzes the sources and origins of such an archetypal and borderline character, a femme fatal inheriting the historically corrupt conception of the female, its fusion with botanical aberrations and its oniric representation.
