ZŌĒ‐BÍOS: proyecto para una biografía de la ciudad antigua

    En este ensayo intento una aproximación hermenéutica a la hipótesis de una biografía de los espacios históricos: históricos, no solo porque albergaron y fueron el escenario de grandes hazañas –en el más estricto sentido herodotiano‐ sino también porque la parte de vida que en ellos se ha derramado, escribiéndolos, visitándolos, estudiándolos…soñándolos… desde otros espacios –algunos muy lejanos‐ tiene, metafóricamente, el carácter que en los sujetos toma el nombre de “biografía”. Además, tomado en su dimensión general, holística, también cabría una consideración sobre la Vida, que entraña toda vida individual. Para este propósito parto de la etimología de dos palabras griegas: Ζωή (Zōē) que connota la vida en general. Esa Zōē (cósmico‐natural) se manifestaba a los sentidos del poeta, del filósofo y del político como βίος (bíos) –vida individual‐ huella de ese todo de la Zōē que se refleja en lo mikro como en un espejo. Llegado a este punto, propongo una biografía de Estambul –pasando por Sumer‐ como una ciudad griega leída por el Cristianismo y el Islam. En esta escritura se cruzan estilos y géneros: notas de viaje, ensayo histórico‐hermenéutico y prosa poética

    In this essay I try a hermeneutic approach to the hypothesis of a biography of historical spaces: historical, not only because they housed and were the scene of great feats ‐ in the strictest herodotian sense ‐ but also because the part of life that in them it has spilled, writing them, visiting them, studying them ... dreaming them ... from other spaces ‐ some very distant ‐ has, metaphorically, the character that in the subjects takes the name of ʺbiographyʺ. In addition, taken in its general, holistic dimension, there would also be a consideration of Life, which involves all individual life. For this purpose I start from the etymology of two Greek words: Ζωή (Zōē) that connotes life in general. That Zōē (cosmic‐natural) manifested itself to the senses of the poet, the philosopher and the politician as βίος (bios) ‐ individual life ‐ imprint of that whole of the Zōē that is reflected in the mikro as in a mirror. At this point, I propose a biography of Istanbul ‐ passing through Sumer‐ as a Greek city read by Christianity and Islam. In this writing styles and genres intersect: travel notes, historical‐hermeneutical essay and poetic prose.
