Análisis del nivel de consumo de alcohol en estudiantes universitarios

    Alcohol is one of the most widely consumed and addictive legal substances in the world. Young adults face various behavioral changes in the face of new experiences such as entering higher education. In this eagerness to change, habits can arise that lead to serious problems such as the harmful consumption of alcohol. The aim of this research was to evaluate alcohol consumption in terms of frequency, quantity, influence of gender and careers studied by university students in order to modify consumption behaviors in the initial stages. A quantitative, cross-sectional, descriptive-comparative study was carried out using the AUDIT questionnaire, created by the World Health Organization (Adewuya, 2005). The analysis of the results was carried out with the SPSS statistical package (version 25.0), which made it possible to identify that consumption does not depend on gender, as opposed to the career they are studying at the university. In addition, a significant percentage of the study sample was observed in the level of risky drinker.

    El alcohol es una de las sustancias lícitas con mayor nivel de consumo y de adicción en el mundo. Los nuevos adultos jóvenes se enfrentan a diversos cambios comportamentales, frente a nuevas experiencias como el ingreso a la educación superior. En este afán de cambio pueden surgir hábitos que conlleven serios problemas como el consumo perjudicial de alcohol. Esta investigación tuvo como objetivo evaluar el consumo de alcohol en cuanto a frecuencia, cantidad, influencia de género y carreras que cursan los estudiantes universitarios; a fin de modificar conductas de consumo en etapas iniciales. Se realizó un estudio cuantitativo, transversal, descriptivo-comparativo, mediante el cuestionario AUDIT (Identificación de Trastornos por Consumo de Alcohol), creado por la Organización Mundial de la Salud (Adewuya, 2005). El análisis de resultados se realizó con el paquete estadístico SPSS (versión 25.0), lo que permitió identificar que el consumo no depende del género, a diferencia de la carrera que cursan en la universidad. Además, se observó un porcentaje significativo de la muestra de estudio en el nivel de Bebedor de riesgo.
