Photography has accompanied the history of Cuba and sometimes caused events that had an impact on the direction of the nation. Sorne images had documentary value, others were used for political purposes and many were used to write and rewrite the history of the archipelago. In one way or another, they marked the collective imagination shaping society to this day. Photography was so important that it would be difficult to ensure that Cubans would have traveled the same paths without the existence of sorne of those iconic images.
