    En la educación escolar existen estudiantes que han obtenido un alto resultado académico en la asignatura de Lenguaje, pero, bajo en Matemática. El objetivo de esta investigación es abordar esta problemática a través de un paradigma cualitativo de entrevistas semiestructuradas a estudiantes secundarios que cumplen con esta característica. Los resultados dan cuenta de factores extrínsecos más que intrínsecos sobre esta dicotomía en sus resultados académicos, relevando la importancia del conocimiento y los pensamientos matemáticos, que no son independientes de los actos comunicativos, que, llevados a un contexto auténtico, serán significativos para el estudiante.

    In school education there are students who have obtained a high academic result in the subject of Language, but low in Mathematics. The objective of this research is to address this problem through a qualitative paradigm of semi-structured interviews, with high school students who meet this characteristic. The results show extrinsic rather than intrinsic factors on this dichotomy in their academic results, highlighting the importance of mathematical knowledge and thoughts, which are not independent of communicative acts and that, taken into an authentic context, will be significant for the student.
