In Vehicular ad hoc Networks (VANETs),the efficient dissemination of messages is a key factorto speed up the development of useful servicesand applications. In this paper, we present the OptimalBroadcast Selection algorithm, a novel proposalthat automatically chooses the best broadcast schemetrying to fit the warning message delivery policy tothe current characteristics of each specific vehicularscenario. Our mechanism uses as input parametersthe vehicular density and the topological characteristicsof the environment where the vehicles are located,in order to decide which dissemination schemeto use. Simulation results demonstrate the feasibilityof our approach, which is able to support moreefficient warning message dissemination in vehicularenvironments.
