    Hoy en día, se pueden encontrar fácilmente en Internet en - tornos de traducción audiovisual (TAV) en los que ciudadanos traducen contenidos de diferentes orígenes basándose en sus dispositivos técnicos y habilidades lingüísticas, sin tener necesariamente una formación en traducción. El objetivo fundamental de esta investigación es comprender si las versiones de destino creadas en dichos entornos pueden influir en la comprensión del Otro. El objeto de estudio será la comedia francesa Bienvenue chez les Ch’tis, un contenido desafiante en cualquier circunstancia de traducción. En definitiva, deseo contribuir a los trabajos publicados al respecto, tanto introduciendo un nuevo par lingüístico —francés-portugués— como realizando un análisis doblemente comparativo: entre dos variantes lingüísticas —el portugués europeo y el portugués brasileño— y dos contextos traductológicos —profesional y no profesional—.

    Audiovisual translation has been experiencing a growing complexification of its contours. The subtitling of the French comedy Bienvenue chez les Ch’tis into Portuguese is an interesting case study, for it shows the role of non-professional audiovisual translations and translators, as well as their impact over the (mis)understanding of the Other. We aim to contribute to such an acknowledgement through a doubly comparative analysis: (i) between two linguistic variants – the European Portuguese and the Brazilian Portuguese; and (ii) between professionally and non-professionally conducted translation practices. Most of all, we wish to realize whether the translational choices mirrored (or not) a cultural perspective over the Ch’tis community and whether the technical conditions influenced (or not) the translators’ work, mainly in terms of meaning conveyance.
