Resumen de La corrupción en derecho europeo:: un estudio cualitativo y ontológico de los delitos y su traducción del inglés al español

  La corrupción de la clase política es un tema acuciante en Europa en general, y en el contexto español en particular (Heywood, 2007; Jiménez, 2009). Dicha ansiedad se hace alarmantemente palpable en los índices de Percepción de la Corrupción (CP) obtenidos tras las encuestas llevadas a cabo por el colectivo no gubernamental Transparencia Internacional (TI) y se ha materializado en la puesta en marcha de la redacción y aplicación de varios instrumentos legislativos para combatir el fenómeno a nivel europeo. El presente trabajo se propone un estudio cualitativo de la terminología delictiva utilizada en dichos instrumentos —en concreto la Convención Penal Europea de 2005 y el informe GRECO para España (2009) y Reino Unido (2007)— a través de la aplicación de las bases de datos terminológicas WordNet y EuroWordnet. El fin último de nuestro estudio será el revelar las equivalencias y asimetrías en el uso de dicha terminología en inglés y en español en el contexto legislativo de la Unión Europea.

  Corruption of politicians is perceived as a major issue in Europe, and particularly in Spain (Heywood, 2007; Jiménez, 2009). This anxiety is reflected in the Corruption Perceptions (CP) indexes obtained from the surveys conducted by the non-governmental organization Transparency International (TI). Furthermore, it has been materialized in the writing and the implementation of several legal documents for fighting against Europe-wide corruption. The goal of this paper is to undertake a qualitative study of the criminal terminology used in those documents —specifically in the UN Criminal Convention (2005) and the GRECO report for Spain (2009) and UK (2007)— by means of the application of the lexical databases WordNet and EuroWordnet. Our ultimate aim is to find the parallels and the asymmetries in the usage of those terms of art in English and in Spanish within the UN legal context.
