  • Resumen
    • Since San Jorge University started up in 2005, it has focused on professional career advice, aimed at students in their last year of degree due to their imminent integration into the job market, and it is increasingly encouraging activities in previous years. This paper analyses the impact of the provision of professional career advice to final year students on their employability, in particular, the compliance with the action plan drawn up before graduation. The “Personalised Guidance Plan” programme consists of a professional skills test and a series of tutorials with a professional counsellor that culminates in an action plan for the 12 months following graduation. The action plan is drawn up according to the skills profile resulting from the test and the student’s experience and interests. The scope of study was the degree programmes with the highest number of users of the service, analysing the results obtained in the 2015-16 academic year. Participation data was collected and the content of the action plan of each user was compared with the data on employment rate for the year when the students graduated. In the period of time analysed, 45 students participated in the programme, out of a total of 119 (37.8%), of whom 23 (51.1%) answered the job insertion survey one year after graduation. 70% of the students who adhered to the Guidance Plan finished it. With respect to the execution of the action plan designed, 95.7% were either in further education or working depending on the decisions they made after the analysis with the counsellor. Users of the Personalised Guidance Plan are advised to opt for postgraduate education as a first option.
