La función que cumplen los padres en el desarrollo de los hijos es primordial, son los primeros educadores que influyen directamente en la adquisición de actitudes y aptitudes que definen su personalidad. Parte esencial de la formación es el apoyo y direccionamiento que la comunicación brinda a las emociones y comportamientos del niño que, tanto el padre y la madre fomentan a diario, siendo esta de mayor aporte cuando se da paso a la expresión de ideas y emociones de manera abierta y efectiva que estimule la confianza y seguridad al momento de expresarse. El objetivo de este artículo es identificar cuál es el nivel de comunicación que existe entre padres e hijos según la relación de género y determinar la diferencia comunicacional según el contexto regional al que pertenecen la familia. La metodología aplicada realizó un estudio de campo, de corte cuantitativo descriptivo, la muestra a estudiar comprende a 1938 padres y 2929 madres, el instrumento de medición aplicado fue de Valdés, et al. (2009) que establece una escala de reflexión de la participación familiar; se estableció el coeficiente de confiabilidad alfa de Cronbach de (0.92) como base para el análisis factorial, que utilizó el método de rotación de variamax. Los resultados muestran que el nivel de comunicación de los hijos según el género de sus padres, es alto en lo que concierne a la madre; según la región se observa que en la costa el nivel de comunicación con el padre es mayor. Se concluye que la comunicación que existe entre los hijos con las madres es mejor que la existente con los padres, a nivel regional existe una variación considerable ya que el padre de la costa es el que mejor se comunica.

The role that parents play in the development of their children is paramount; they are the first educators who directly influence the acquisition of attitudes and skills that define their personality. An essential part of instruction is the support and direction that communication provides to the emotions and behaviors of the child that, both the father and the mother promote daily. This becomes of greater contribution when it promotes the expression of ideas and emotions in an open and effective way that stimulates confidence and security, at the time of expressing themselves. The objective of this article is to identify what is the level of communication that exists between parents and children, according to the gender relationship and, to determine the communicational difference according to the regional context to which the family belongs. The applied methodology carried out a field study, of a descriptive quantitative nature; the sample to be studied includes 1938 fathers and 2929 mothers, and the applied measurement instrument was by Valdés, et al. (2009) which establishes a scale of reflection of family participation; Cronbach's alpha reliability coefficient of (0.92) was established as the basis for factor analysis, which used the variamax rotation method. The results show that the level of communication of the children according to the gender of their parents, is high as far as the mother is concerned; according to the region it is observed that on the coast the level of communication with the father is higher. It is concluded that the communication that exists between the children with their mothers is better than the one with their fathers. At the regional level, there is a considerable variation since the father of the coast is the one who communicates best.
