  El contexto educativo en Latinoamérica cambió drásticamente en el año 2020 a raíz de la pandemia por la enfermedad COVID-19. Ha surgido la necesidad imperativa de virtualizar todos los procesos educativos, y esto ha puesto en evidencia una brecha tecnológica importante. La presente investigación tiene como objetivo identificar las habilidades tecnológicas y su respectiva motivación en docentes latinoamericanos, antes y durante el período de pandemia; para ello se realizó una revisión bibliográfica sobre los temas de desarrollo de habilidades y destrezas en el ambiente educativo. Adicionalmente se aplicó un instrumento en línea a una muestra de docentes latinoamericanos en ejercicio, con una serie de preguntas que se relacionan con los temas mencionados anteriormente. Entre los resultados se consideran los niveles de habilidad en diferentes herramientas clave para el desarrollo de actividades educativas virtuales. Resalta que, en la mayoría de las herramientas y habilidades propuestas, la población educadora cuenta con nivel principiante, a esto se le suma que una cantidad considerable de docentes presenta un nivel nulo en destrezas. Por otra parte, cabe destacar que un porcentaje muy alto de los participantes se capacitan en temas de interés propio y de forma autodidacta, siendo este el elemento principal de la motivación en el proceso de formación de la comunidad docente.

  The educational context in Latin America changed dramatically in 2020 as a result of the COVID-19 disease. The imperative need to virtualize all educational processes has arisen, and this has highlighted a significant technological gap. The objective of this research is to identify technological skills and their respective motivation in Latin American teachers before and during the pandemic period. A bibliographic review was carried out about development of abilities and skills in the educational environment. Additionally, an online instrument was applied to a sample of practicing Latin American teachers, with a series of questions related to the topics. Among the results, the skill levels in different key tools for the development of virtual educational activities are considered. It stands out that in most of the tools and skills proposed, the educator population has a beginner level; furthermore, a considerable number of teachers present a null level in skills that belong to that group of key areas in the exercise of the teaching. On the other hand, it should be noted that a very high percentage of the participants are trained in subjects of their own interest and in a self-taught way, this being the main element of motivation in the training process of the teaching community.
