    Las normativas actuales de evaluación de la toxicidad de las sustancias químicas se basan fundamentalmente en el estudio de sus efectos sobre los animales; a su vez estas normativas están siendo afectadas por otras disposiciones dictadas como consecuencia del reconocimiento de unos "Dere chos de los Animales". Tanto el legislador como el experimentador se encuentran en el dilema de respetar éstos sin menoscabo del progreso de la toxicología y de la investigación científica en general; en definitiva el toxicólogo debe extraer la mayor cantidad posible de información a partir del menor número de animales

    The present regulations on the evaluation of the toxicity of Chemical substances are based fundamentally on the study of their effects on animáis; in turn these regulations are being affected by other provisions dictated in consequence ofthe recognition of"Animal Rights". Both legislator and investigator come upagainst the dilemma of respecting thesewithout impairing the progress of toxicology and scientific research in general; definitively the toxicologist must extract the most information possible from the least number of animáis.
