    El presente artículo aborda un género que, a pesar de su continua presencia en la literatura, ha sido marginado por la crítica debido a su compleja tipología e hibridez: el relato de viaje. Se realizará un recorrido a lo largo de la evolución de este hasta desembocar en la concepción mantenida en el siglo XIX. Para ello, se utilizará a la asturiana Eva Canel (1857-1932), quien vivió gran parte de su vida en el extranjero; una experiencia que se plasma en su obra, especialmente en De América: viajes, tradiciones y novelitas cortas (1899), la cual servirá de ejemplo de la manifestación del género en la escritora y, por ende, será la analizada en este artículo. Se pondrá de manifiesto, por tanto, la figura de Eva Canel como ejemplo de una autora que ejerció dicho género y que, como este, se caracterizará por su experiencia cruzando fronteras.

    The following article addresses a genre present since the beginning of literature: travel writing. However, it has been marginalised by literary criticism due to its complex typology and hybridity. The study conducts an encapsulation throughout the genre's evolution, resulting in the conception maintained in the 19th century.

    For this purpose, the Asturian author Eva Canel (1857-1932) will serve as an example of the form's manifestation; a woman who lived most of her life abroad, an experience captured in her literary work.

    Specifically, it will be her book De América: viajes, tradiciones y novelitas cortas (1899) that will be analysed in this article. Therefore, the investigation will expound the figure of Eva Canel as an example of an author who practiced the genre ny her expertise traversing borders
