    El presente artículo muestra los resultados de un estudio que pretendió comprender las representaciones que tienen estudiantes de cuatro instituciones de educación básica y media de la ciudad de Montería – Córdoba (Colombia) sobre género y la sexualidad. El paradigma metodológico se orientó desde el enfoque cualitativo – hermenéutico y se utilizó la entrevista semiestructurada como técnica de recolección de la información. Los resultados evidencian que el machismo es una actitud recurrente en los hogares, en el colegio y en otros espacios sociales. Este fenómeno se persibe como una herencia cultural que siempre ha permeado los contextos donde los estudiantes interactuan y que se asume como un comportamiento normal que siempre ha estado presente en la región donde están ubicadas las instituciones objeto de estudio.

    This article shows the results of a study that sought to understand the   representations that students from four basic and secondary education institutions in the city of Monteria - Córdoba (Colombia). Have about gender and sexuality. The methodological paradigm was oriented from the qualitative-hermeneutical approach and the semi-structured interview was used as a technique for collecting information. The results show that machismo is a recurring attitude at home, at school and in other social spaces. This phenomenon is seen as a cultural heritage that has always permeated the contexts where students interact and that is assumed as a normal behavior that has always been present in the region where the institutions under study are located.
