    A sinagoga tornou-se, ao longo dos últimos dois mil anos, o local principal onde são realizadas as liturgias públicas judaicas. O presente artigo trata dos aspectos arquitetônicos externos e internos relativos às sinagogas e de seu uso como espaço religioso e comunitário através dos séculos. Além da arquitetura e organização do espaço da sinagoga é abordado, também, o uso coletivo litúrgico desse tipo de lugar de adoração. A versatilidade e a permanência dessa instituição são também abordadas.

    The synagogue has become during the last two thousand years the main place where Jewish public liturgies are held. This article deals with the external and internal architectural aspects of synagogues and their use as religious and community space through the centuries. In addition to the architecture and organization of the synagogue space, the collective liturgical use of this type of place of worship is also addressed. The versatility and permanence of this institution are also addressed.
