  • Some of the benefits, problems and consequences precipitated by the introduction of microcomputers into a Third World department of education are considered. Such consequences have included the necessity for expenditure which had not been anticipated, a re‐evaluation of certain procedures within the departmental course structure, and the uptake of the micro facility by a relatively small proportion of staff members. It is observed that the effect of the micros has been significant and beneficial, however, and that the future holds exciting prospects for development.
