In a formal organization such as a training institute, promoting change can be a difficult process because organizations are essentially conservative. Any attempt to introduce changes must take account of individuals, groups, and formal authorities. This article describes a five‐step mechanism for promoting change and illustrates it with examples from a technical institution in the Middle East.
