Resumen de Caracterización mineralógica y estudio de procedencia de las arcillas de la Formación Morelia (Aptiense inferior, Cadena Ibérica oriental)

• The study of the clay mineralogy and REE content has enabled to identify the possible source rocks that supplied lutitic sediments to the Morelia Formation (Lowermost Aptian). The Triassic rocks of the outcropping Buntsandstein facies probably were the main source rock. In high energy events, such as channelized sandy facies, the source rock could be made of Ebro Massif Palaeozoic rocks located at greatest distance from the sedimentation area. These rocks are currently overlain by Tertiary sediments of the Ebro Basin.
