    El 15 de noviembre de 1901, dos jóvenes de 19 años Julián Baroja y Miguela González aparecieron muertos en el Crucifijo. Él era hijo del fabricante de conservas Cayetano Baroja y ella una obrera de su fábrica. Todo indica que se amaban y que la oposición a su relación les impulsó al suicidio. Este artículo documenta a través de la prensa de la época el trágico suceso, que se transmitió oralmente durante años e ilustra la complejidad de las relaciones entre clases sociales a comienzos del siglo XX.

    On November 15, 1901, two 19-year-olds, Julián Baroja and Miguela González, were found dead at the Crucifijo. He was the son of the cannery owner, Cayetano Baroja, and she was a worker in their factory. Everything indicates that they loved each other and that the opposition to their relationship drove them to suicide. This paper documents the tragic event through the press of the time, which was transmitted orally for years, and illustrates the complexity of the relations between social classes at the beginning of the 20th century.
