  • Resumen
    • This article will introduce the reader to educational change strategies coupled with the experiential component of hospitality education. Consensus building techniques were used to address the unique challenges faced in an operating hotel environment used for student training. During the Spring 1999 semester, focus groups were conducted with students, GTA's, faculty, hourly employees, and supervisory/managerial employees of the CNHC and hotel. Based on these focus groups the college undertook to: identify a shared operational and education mission for the laboratories, define proficiencies for each lab, strengthen Graduate Teaching Assistant and student orientation to the lab environments, and work to standardize operational procedures to facilitate student learning.
