Resumen de Learning Styles of Hospitality Students and Faculty Members

Cathy H. C. Hsu, Kara Wolfe

  • This study was to identify hospitality students' and faculty members' learning styles using the Learning Style Inventory – Semantic Differential (LSI-SD) format. Data were collected from 550 students and 38 instructional staff in a hospitality and tourism management program at a university in Hong Kong. Results of this study indicated that both students and faculty members preferred the abstract conceptualization and active experimentation style of learning. There were similarities when results from this study were compared to other studies. The LSI-SD appeared to work well with this Asian population, with satisfactory levels of reliabilities. Recommendations on instructional strategies were made.
