    This paper intends to evaluate the production of the imaginary of language in frontier production conditions. Based on the materialist and pecheuxtian French branch of Discourse Analysis (AD), it analyzes a traveler’s descriptions who has been to the region of Foz do Iguaçu in 1903. The paper intends to understand how the language of the border is imaginatively instituted in the traveler’s discourse. The relationship between space, subject and discourse is decisive to the constitution of this language imaginary, since it is constituted to the extent that it is part of the power relationship that characterizes the State Apparatuses.

    No presente trabalho, buscamos compreender a produção do imaginário de língua em condições de produção de fronteira. Ancorando nossa reflexão na Análise de Discurso (AD), de linha francesa, materialista e pecheuxtiana, analisamos descrições de um viajante que esteve presente na região de Foz do Iguaçu, em 1903. Importou-nos compreender o modo como a ‘língua de fronteira’ é imaginariamente instituída no discurso do viajante. A relação entre espaço, sujeito e discurso foi determinante no funcionamento de tal imaginário, já que se constitui na medida em que se inscreve nas relações de poder dos Aparelhos de Estados (AEs).
