Speech verbs can be delimited from other verb categories by a pertinent intrinsic trait, namely that they are characterized by a positive update regarding the semanteme of articulate language. But if while studying the so-called verba dicendi we limited to those verbs that present this distinctive feature, it would mean committing an injustice towards the richness of expression of the studied languages (Romanian vs. Spanish), and this is because, on many occasions, proper speech verbs are replaced by verbs from other spheres of human life, which supplements the basic meaning of «articulated communication» that they acquire metaphorically, with new lexical, pragmatic and grammatical meanings
