    Italia es el principal escenario en lo que se refiere a los contextos migratorios irregulares de la Unión Europea, especialmente desde el punto de vista cuantitativo. Miles de personas al año desde Asia y África cruzan el Sáhara y el Mediterráneo, pasando por la inestable Libia, para llegar a las costas del sur de Italia. El objetivo es conseguir un futuro más estable y alejado de las dictaduras, las guerras y la pobreza. Las Fuerzas Armadas por un lado, y las ONGs con el Ministerio del Interior por el otro, actúan en aguas internacionales y en tierra firme para prevenir los naufragios y el contrabando de personas y ofrecer, siempre que sea posible, el derecho de asilo.

    Italy is the main setting in what refers to the irregular migratory contexts of the European Union, especially from the quantitative point of view. Starting from other parts of Asia and Africa, thousands of people a year across the Sahara, the unstable Lybia and the Mediterranean Sea, to reach the coasts of the South of Italy. The aim is to achieve a more stable future away from dictatorships, wars and poverty. Armed forces on one hand, and NGOs with the Ministry of the Interior on the other, act in international waters and onshore to prevent shipwrecks and people’s smuggling and give, whenever possible, the right of asylum.
