    El helenista y arqueólogo Karl Otfried Müller (28 de agosto de 1797 -1 de agosto de 1840) dejó su Historia de la literatura griega inconclusa, debido a la prematura muerte en suelo griego. Dos son las lecturas fundamentales que de esta obra se hacen en España: la de Santiago Usoz (1860) y la de Alfredo Adolfo Camús (1889). En ambos casos, la figura humana de Müller, no sólo su obra, adquiere también relevancia. Por lo demás, mientras Usoz utilizó una de las primeras ediciones de la versión inglesa del manual (quizá la de 1847), que terminaba con Isócrates, Camús terminó prologando la versión española hecha a partir de la cuarta edición alemana, completada por Heitz (1882). Se trata de dos lecturas diferentes en su motivación y época, pero que dan cuenta del interés que algunos autores españoles tenían en acudir a los mejores instrumentos bibliográficos que ofrecía la filología de su época.

    The Hellenist and archaeologist Karl Otfried Müller (August 28, 1797 - August 1, 1840) left his "History of the Literature of Ancient Greece" unfinished due to his premature death in Greece. We have found two main echoes of his work in Spain: that of Santiago Usoz (1860) and that of Alfredo Adolfo Camus (1889). In both cases, the human figure of Müller, not only his work, also acquires relevance. Moreover, while Usoz used one of the first editions of the English version (perhaps that of 1847), which ended with Isocrates, Camús wrote a prologue for the Spanish translation made from the fourth German edition, completed by Heitz (1882). These are two different readings in their motivation and time, but they show the interest that some Spanish authors had to resort to the best bibliographic instruments offered by the philology of their time.
