Cerâmica de paredes finas da Alcáçova de Santarém

    The sherds of thin walled pottery that were collected during the archaeological excavation carried in the Alcáçova de Santarém are abundant and diversified from the formal point of view. The great majority dates between the end of the republic and the reign of Augustus, although this study allowed to verify that this ceramic type was imported from the middle of the 1st century BC and that it continued to be used until the flavian time. In this work, the fragments had been analysed according to the known typologies, but the chronological attributions also had been supported by the observed stratigraphic data in the diverse contexts where the pieces had been collected. A reading on the meaning of these importations also was assayed, over all because, in contrast of what succeeds in other chronologically and functionally similar sites, it was possible to work on an extensive set that totalises 704 fragments.

    A cerâmica de paredes finas recolhida durante as escavações arqueológicas realizadas na Alcáçova de Santarém é abundante e diversificada do ponto de vista formal. A grande maioria data de uma época localizada entre o final da república e o reinado de Augusto, apesar de o estudo ter permitido verificar que esta espécie cerâmica foi importada a partir de meados do século I a.C. e que continuou a ser utilizada até à época flávia. No trabalho que agora se publica, os fragmentos foram analisados de acordo com as tipologias conhecidas, mas as atribuições cronológicas foram também suportadas pelos dados estratigráficos observados nos diversos contextos em que as peças foram recolhidas. Uma leitura sobre o significado destas importações foi também ensaiada, sobretudo porque, ao contrário do que sucede em outros sítios cronológica e funcionalmente afins, foi possível trabalhar sobre um conjunto extenso que totaliza 704 fragmentos.
