This article captures a session from the ASE Annual Conference in Birmingham in 2019. Two educational researchers and a small sample of the teachers that they have worked with over the last 20 years explain how research ideas from a review on Assessment for Learning (AfL) have been put into practice and the benefits this has brought to their teaching and understanding of their roles in helping children learn. Evidence-based research is useful in informing practice and this article explains how careful consideration and exploration of research studies can benefit teaching and learning.
