    La escola Montessori avanza hacia un modelo de enseñanza donde el alumno tenga un papel central en su proceso de aprendizaje e integre competencias para la vida. Es esencial que la escuela esté vinculada con el entorno y la realidad del alumnado. Las relaciones con instituciones de carácter cultural y social, y con el tejido industrial cercano, dotan de significado los contenidos dando la oportunidad de acceder a experiencias en condiciones de equidad. El enfoque STEAM permite trabajar de forma integrada diferentes áreas como las matemáticas, la ciencia, la tecnología y el arte. La creatividad se erige como motor de aprendizaje. El asesoramiento por parte de expertos y de instituciones punteras en tecnología y fabricación digital permite dotar de significado los aprendizajes y ver sus aplicaciones reales. El hecho de que el alumnado tenga acceso desde edades tempranas a propuestas STEAM ayuda a fomentar las vocaciones científico tecnológicas, especialmente entre las niñas, para que tengan la oportunidad de formarse en STEAM y desarrollar profesiones de carácter científico-tecnológico. Desde la escuela se debe garantizar la igualdad de oportunidades de todos independientemente de la procedencia o contexto socio-económico. Es posible combatir la segregación escolar mediante proyectos que garanticen la equidad, como el proyecto Magnet, enfocado a combatir dicha segregación y estigmatización de algunos centros apostando por la excelencia educativa y las alianzas entre escuelas e instituciones de referencia en diferentes ámbitos.

    Montessori school is progressing towards a learnercentered approach, providing students with life skills. It is essential for the school to be connected both to the surrounding environment and to students¿ reality. To this extent, contents become more significant when links are forged with cultural and social institutions as well as the industrial sector. They also provide kids with the opportunity to access experiences on equitable terms. STEAM brings together different areas of knowledge such as mathematics, science and technology as well as arts. Creativity becomes the driver for learning and a tool for research. Moreover, learning significance and its possible implementation in real life come hand in hand with experts¿ assessment as well as scientific and digital production institutions. Providing students with STEAM proposals from an early age helps fostering scientific and technological vocations, especially among girls. Gender perspective in STEAM is essential in order to ensure that girls have the opportunity to access and develop scientific and technological careers in the future. Schools should also guarantee equal opportunities for everyone, regardless their origin or social and economical background. Therefore, school segregation must be tackled by ensuring equity. In this regard, Magnet Schools are aimed at addressing segregation and social stigma through educational excellence and alliances between schools and relevant institutions.
