    El ser humano siempre ha tenido la necesidad de imaginar cómo será el futuro y a través del cine ha encontrado el mejor vehículo para proyectar esas ideas por medio de la ficción científica. Unir lo visible e invisible, imaginación y entendimiento, comunicar lo inexplicable, hacer comprensible lo abstracto y reconocible lo irreconocible. Muchas de las predicciones que la ciencia ficción ha presentado a través del medio fílmico se han convertido en realidad. Las imágenes visuales de mundos de fantasía y ficción científica estimulan la imaginación del espectador llevándole a pensar más de lo que ellos mismos pueden explicar. Esa posibilidad de ver más allá la expone Kieran Egan en su teoría sobre la Educación Imaginativa en la que revaloriza la importancia de la imaginación y la fantasía como instrumentos para el aprendizaje, destacando que la imaginación impulsa ideas y las ideas resuelven problemas.

    The human being has always had the need to imagine what the future will be like and through cinema has found the best vehicle to project those ideas through scientific fiction. To unite the visible and invisible, imagination and understanding, to communicate the inexplicable, to make the abstract and recognizable look unrecognizable. Many of the predictions that science fiction has presented through the film media have become reality. The visual images of fantasy worlds and scientific fiction stimulate the spectator´s imagination, leading him to think more than even themselves can explain. That possibility of seeing further is explained by Kieran Egan in his theory on Imaginative Education in which he revalues the importance of imagination and fantasy as instruments for learning, emphasizing that imagination drives ideas and ideas solve problems.
