El presente artículo esboza los primeros pasos de una investigación en curso en cuyo enfoque está la recepción del teatro español en Hungría. Repasamos el periodo más estudiado, que es la aparición de las primeras piezas del Siglo de Oro –las de Calderón, Lope y Moreto– puestas en escena en los palcos húngaros en el siglo XIX, primero en alemán y luego ya en traducciones húngaras. Otro autor popular del teatro español en Hungría es Federico García Lorca cuya recepción es bien estudiada ya.
Entre los dramaturgos mencionados y desde Lorca hay una extensa laguna en las investigaciones, así pues, nuestro proyecto es llenar estos huecos de la recepción:
acumular y hacer una base de datos de las obras traducidas y de la crítica teatral concerniente al teatro español y, con el análisis de estos, demostrar que en Hungría sí que existe un teatro español más allá de Calderón, Lope, Moreto, Echegaray y García Lorca.

The article provides an account of the first steps of an ongoing research which focuses on the reception of Spanish theatre in Hungary. We give an overview of the most-studied period, the 19th century when the first dramas of the Golden Age – the works of Calderón, Lope, Moreto – were performed on Hungarian stage for the first time, first in German and later in Hungarian as well. Federico García Lorca is also a renowned Spanish author in Hungarian theatre whose reception we have studied before in detail. Research on the period between the reception of the theatre of the Golden Age and the dramas of Lorca are still incomplete; therefore, the main aim of our research is to fill in these gaps. Our purpose is to collect information about and create a database of the translated Spanish plays and the reviews about them and carry out a detailed analysis in order to prove the existence of Spanish theatre in Hungary besides Calderón, Lope, Moreto, Echegaray and García Lorca.
