    Objetivo: evaluar las colectas del fruto cuatomate maduro para la descripción de algunas características sobresalientes de interés agronómico, ya que actualmente son pocos o nulos los trabajos que hacen referencia a la descripción del fruto y manejo de la planta a nivel regional. Metodología: la mayoría de los frutos obtenidos se colectaron de planta sembradas en huertos familiares de traspatios. Se usó un diseño completamente al azar con diez repeticiones, la unidad experimental consistió de diez frutos por planta. Las variables evaluadas fueron peso de fruto, diámetro polar y ecuatorial, longitud de pedúnculo, ancho de pedúnculo a la base del fruto y número de semillas por fruto, además de investigar algunos aspectos generales del manejo de la planta. Resultados: la colecta de frutos maduros procedentes del municipio de Izúcar de Matamoros fue la que presentó mayor promedio con 30.94 gramos; el diámetro polar y ecuatorial del fruto con 38.4 y 40.6 mm, seguido de la colecta Chinantla, con un promedio de 27.5 gramos. Presentó un diámetro polar y ecuatorial de 33.5 y 36.6 mm, características importantes para la reproducción y comercialización. Limitaciones: las colectas pueden ser propagadas para su producción o evaluación de otras características agronómicas sobresalientes, destacando su variabilidad del fruto. Conclusiones: sobresalió la colecta de Izúcar de Matamoros por su peso, diámetro polar y ecuatorial del fruto, así como también en el número de semillas por fruto.

    Objective: To evaluate the collections of the cuatomate mature fruit for the description of some outstanding characteristics of agronomic interest, since currently there are few or null jobs that refer to the description of the fruit and management of the plant at the regional level. Methodology: Most of the fruits obtained were collected from plants planted in backyard family gardens. A completely randomized design with ten replications was used, the experimental unit consisted of ten fruits per plant. The variables evaluated were fruit weight, polar and equatorial diameter, peduncle length, peduncle width to the base of the fruit and number of seeds per fruit, as well as to investigate some general aspects of the management of the plant. Results: The collection of mature fruits, from the municipality of Izúcar de Matamoros, was the one with the highest average with 30.94 grams. The polar and equatorial diameter of the fruit with 38.4 and 40.6 mm, followed by the Chinantla collection, with an average of 27.5 grams, presenting a polar and equatorial diameter of 33.5 and 36.6 mm, important characteristics for reproduction and commercialization. Limitations: the collections can be propagated for their production or evaluation of other outstanding agronomic characteristics, highlighting their variability of the fruit. Conclusions: the Izúcar de Matamoros collection was highlighted by its weight, polar and equatorial diameter of the fruit, as well as the number of seeds per fruit.
