Reading entails proficiency in several language domains, but it favours the foreign language learner’s ability to read specialised written texts in specific subject fields. The aspect of reading focused on this paper is reading comprehension, a cognitive process in which the reader intentionally and interactively engages with the text. The assumption is that online business articles can contribute to the improvement of reading skills and the acquisition of general business vocabulary – general business terms in context. The degree of expertise of the text is limited once it is produced by pundits to fulfil the purposes of a broad professional and non-professional readership.
