  • Resumen
    • One of the goals of this paper is to advocate the importance of an introductory Business language course, which helps students to learn basic vocabulary, locals’ life style, and basic business concepts. Knowing the cultural practice is as critical as being able to speak the local languages. But, how do we teach these skills to adult learners? I propose to teach an introductory Chinese business course through “task-based instruction” with the application of instructional technology. Through task-based instruction, students will have the opportunity to incorporate their own life experiences when doing the task given in class and learn about the similarities and differences of how the task is processed in the target country and in the U.S. Seeing is believing. Some cultural differences are beyond imagination. Through instructional technology, such as SMART Board, instructors can provide students lively images, videos, and texts in class, which can facilitate students to comprehend differences in East and West. Moreover, SMART Board software provides instructors many interactive and multimedia activities to apply in classroom teaching to increase students’ participation in class.
