    El objetivo de este artículo es analizar las nuevas conceptualizaciones de lucha contra la pobreza surgidas recientemente, al amparo de la iniciativa de condonación de la deuda para los países más pobres, impulsada por el Banco Mundial y el Fondo Monetario Internacional. Desde mediados de los años 90, ambas instituciones vienen operando un cambio de estrategia en el sentido apuntado, vinculando la condonación de deuda (Iniciativa PPAE), con la elaboración e implementación de programas integrales de lucha contra la pobreza (DELP). En el artículo se analizan críticamente el alcance y las limitaciones de ambos instrumentos en el contexto africano.

    The objective of this article is to analyze the new con-ceptualisations on poverty fighting recently appeared within the fra-mework of the debt relief initiative for the poorest countries, launchedby the World Bank and the International Monetary Fund. Since mid90’s, both institutions are shifting their strategies in the sense mentio-ned above, linking debt relief (HIPC Initiative) with the elaborationand implementation of fighting poverty comprehensive programs(PRSP). In the article we analyse critically the scope and the limita-tions of both instruments in the african context.
