    Introducción y objetivo: El imperativo del ¡publica o perece! conduce con frecuencia a malentendidos y tensiones indeseables entre los posibles candidatos a firmar como coautores de un artículo científico. Objetivo: Revisar las propuestas del Committe on Publication Ethics (COPE) sobre quién está justificado que aparezca como coautor de un artículo. Método: Revisión narrativa. Resultados: Los autores pueden llevar a cabo sus aportaciones en la investigación (1- concepción y diseño, 2- adquisición de datos, 3- análisis e interpretación) o en el artículo (4- redacción del artículo, 5- revisión del artículo). Discusión: Se revisan los aspectos pragmáticos y éticos relacionados con la autoría de un artículo científico. Conclusiones:

    Los aspectos relacionados con la autoría y orden en los que figurarán los autores en la publicación deben ser pactados antes de comenzar la investigación ya que esto afectará a los autores cuando sean evaluados por las agencias de evaluación.

    Introduction and objective: The publish or perish! imperative often leads to misunderstandings and undesirable tensions among potential candidates to sign as co-authors of a scientific article.

    Objective: To review the proposals of the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE) on who is justified in appearing as co-author of an article. Method: Narrative review. Results: The authors can carry out their research contributions (1- conception and design, 2- data acquisition, 3- analysis and interpretation) or in the article (4- writing of the article, 5- review of the article). Discussion: The pragmatic and ethical aspects related to the authorship of a scientific article are reviewed. Conclusions: The aspects related to the authorship and order in which the authors will appear in the publication must be agreed before starting the investigation since this will affect the authors when they are evaluated by the evaluation agencies.
