Análisis factorial confirmatorio del inventario de callo emocional (versión breve: ice-13) en adolescentes mexicanos

    El Callo Emocional (CE) es un rasgo que distingue a niños y adolescentes con problemas graves de conducta y psicopatía que alude a la insensibilidad emocional, falta de empatía y baja respuesta al castigo. Uno de los instrumentos utilizados para evaluar dichos rasgos es el Inventario de Rasgos de Insensibilidad Emocional (ICU, por sus siglas en inglés). El propósito principal del presente estudio fue verificar la estructura factorial de Inventario del Callo Emocional en su versión breve (ICE-13) mediante el Análisis Factorial Confirmatorio. El instrumento se aplicó a 759 jóvenes de entre 12 y 22 años, tanto de sexo masculino (55.7%) como femenino. El análisis indicó un ajuste adecuado para las tres dimensiones del instrumento: Insensibilidad, Despreocupación e Inexpresividad, lo cual replica los resultados obtenidos con el instrumento original de 24 ítems. La consistencia interna de la escala total resultó aceptable (α=.669) y también la de los factores; Insensibilidad (α=.667, con 6 reactivos), Despreocupación (α=.636, con 4 reactivos) e Inexpresividad (α=.631, con 3 reactivos). Con base en los resultados obtenidos, el ICE-13 se concluye que es un instrumento con propiedades psicométricas adecuadas que permite identificar rasgos de Callo Emocional en adolescentes y que puede ser de utilidad para reconocer un subconjunto de jóvenes con problemas graves de conducta.

    Callous-Unemotional (CU) is a trait that distinguishes children and adolescents with serious behavioral and psychopathic problems that refer to emotional insensitivity, lack of empathy and low response to punishment. One of the instruments used to evaluate these traits is the Inventory of Callous-Unemotional Traits (ICU). The main purpose of the present study was to verify the factorial structure of the Inventory Callous-Unemotional in its short version (ICU-13) through the Confirmatory Factor Analysis. The instrument was applied to 759 young people between 12 and 22 years old, both male (55.7%) and female. The analysis indicated an adequate adjustment for the three dimensions of the instrument: Insensitivity, Carelessness and Inexpressibility, which replicates the results obtained with the original instrument of 24 items. The reliability of the total scale was acceptable (α = .669) and also that of the factors; Insensibility (α = .667, with 6 items), uncaring (α = .636, with 4 items) and Inexpressibility (α = .631, with 3 items). Based on the results obtained, we conclude that ICU-13 is an instrument with adequate psychometric properties that allows the identification of Callous-Unemotional features in adolescents and that may be useful to recognize a subset of young people with serious behavioral problems.
