El portafolio como mecanismo de validación de aprendizaje

Este artículo describe una experiencia de incorporación del portafolio en un curso de licenciatura y las percepciones de los estudiantes que experimentaron la construcción y uso de esta herramienta de evaluación. Los resultados de la experiencia indican que los alumnos perciben el portafolio como un instrumento que a) permite el conocimiento de sus avances y logros, b) fomenta la reflexión sobre su aprendizaje, y c) favorece la síntesis e integración de lo aprendido. No obstante, advierten que es un mecanismo que requiere mucho tiempo y cuya evaluación es complicada; los resultados sugieren que las ventajas sobrepasan las desventajas atribuidas al portafolio; sin embargo, las limitaciones en la validez observadas por los estudiantes requieren ser consideradas a futuro como objeto de reflexión.

This article describes an experiment in which the briefcase was introduced in a graduate class and the perceptions expressed by the students who did try out the construction and use of this assessment tool. The results of this pilot scheme show that students consider the briefcase as a tool that a) allows them to apprehend their progresses and achievements; b) encourages the reflection on their own learning; c) contributes to the synthesis and integration of the learned contents. However, they also notice that this procedure requires a lot of time and that its assessment is complicated. The results hint at the fact that the advantages are more important than the inconvenients that the briefcase system can imply; we should nevertheless take into account this limitations of the validity observed by the students in order to carry out a reflection that could improve this system in the future.
