    Durante mucho tiempo, la corte virreinal valenciana atrajo la atención de historiadores y musicólogos culturales. Especialmente durante el segundo virreinato valenciano (1536-1550) de Fernando de Aragón y la marquesa Mencía de Mendoza, que el mecenazgo valenciano alcanza su máximo brillo gracias al gusto humanista y al pensamiento de dimensión europea llevado a cabo por los dos virreyes. Según estudios más recientes, el mecenazgo cultural y musical de la corte valenciana alcanzaría un rasgo solidario y liberal alejándose del modelo típico de mecenazgo de la época basado en el afán de posesión y coleccionismo.

    For a long time, the Valencian viceregal court has drawn the attention of cultural historians and musicologists as it would act within the Spanish-European system as one of the main centers of Renaissance patronage. By the way, it is during the second Valencian viceroyalty (1536-1550), that of Fernando de Aragón, Duke of Calabria and the Marchioness Mencía de Mendoza, that the Valencian patronage reaches its greatest brilliance and for that reason was not strange the great Italian humanist taste in which the Duke had been formed, as well as the European and Europeanist imprinting of the Marchioness. Apparently, the two Valencian viceroys impelled and corroborated in Valencia a new form of philanthropic and supportive patronage.
