    La figura de don Diego Saavedra Fajardo como escritor y diplomático español es una referencia europea de primer orden. Este estudio pretende reconsiderar algunos aspectos de su vida y recuperar su identidad como murciano. Pero el objetivo principal, consiste en escribir la biografía post-mortem del ilustre don Diego: desde su muerte en Madrid y las vicisitudes por las que pasaron sus restos, hasta el año 1884, fecha en la que llega a Murcia, dan comienzo los grandes festejos por el III centenario de su nacimiento y se le da cristiana sepultura en la Catedral, bajo un responso compuesto expresamente en su honor. A lo largo de esta historia conoceremos a todos los protagonistas que hicieron posible recuperar la memoria de don Diego, entre ellos el incansable don Javier Fuentes y Ponte

    The figure of Don Diego Saavedra Fajardo is a first-rate European benchmark as a writer and Spanish diplomat. This study aims to reconsider some aspects of his life and recover his murciana identity. The main objective on this study, is to write his post- mortem biography. The discovery of his remains in Madrid and the vicissitudes spending their bones until his return to Murcia, where in 1884, among great celebrations and events, he received a Christian burial in the Cathedral of Murcia with a funeral song specially composed in his honor. Throughout this story we will know all the people who made it possible to recover the memory of Don Diego, including the untireable Don Javier Fuentes y Ponte.
