Resumen de Lenguaje y conducto cognitiva: el papel del lenguaje en la solución de problemas

El autor comienza definiendo el propósito de su trabajo: ofrecer alguna luz sobre el viejo problema de las relaciones entre pensamiento (o conducta cognitiva) y lenguaje, considerando tanto los datos más relevantes y clásicos como otros provenientes del campo de la solución de problemas y el razonamiento. Para ello aborda, además de las concepciones extremas de Watson y Chomsky, otras hipótesis más recientes también contrapuestas: el relativismo lingüístico y la hipótesis cognitiva fuerte, sostenida, entre otros, por Piaget. Tras describir las teorías de Vygotsky y Luria sobre lenguaje y comportamiento cognitivo, el autor analiza algunas investigaciones que muestran el importante papel del lenguaje egocéntrico en la resolución de problemas. Este trabajo concluye resaltando la hipótesis cognitiva débil y las funciones sociopragmáticas del lenguaje, así como su importancia como herramienta de pensamiento

The author starts by defining the purpose of his work: shedding some light on the old issue of the links between thinking (cognitive behaviour) and language, taking into account the classic and most relevant data from the field of problem solving and reasoning. For this purpose, he considers both the extreme conceptions of Watson and Chomsky, and more recent opposed conceptions:
linguistic relativism and the strong cognitive hypothesis mantained by Piaget, among others. After describing Vygotsky and Luria on language and cognitive behaviour, the author analyses some investigations that show the main role of egocentric language in problem solving. This work ends by pointing out the weak cognitive hypothesis and the sociopragmatic functions of language, as well as its importance as a thinking tool.
