Resumen de Entre Portland y Seattle: el monstruo civilizado en Grimm y iZombie

  Las ciudades contemporáneas se han convertido en un espacio recurrente en la ficción televisiva. Muchas de estas urbes representan escenarios de la realidad pero introducen seres fantásticos que desestabilizan los cimientos de la cotidianeidad, lo cual supone un inevitable enfrentamiento entre el discurso del logos y del mythos. Con el fin de comprender cómo se produce esta dialéctica entre la ciudad y los monstruos, el presente artículo analiza las series Grimm y iZombie, desarrolladas en Portland y Seattle respectivamente. Ambas ficciones muestran seres fantásticos de distinta índole; el primer ejemplo recupera monstruos de las fábulas germanas y el segundo explora los estragos de una infección zombi. Así pues, el objetivo del presente estudio es la realización de un análisis narrativo de los ambientes y los personajes, viendo en qué medida se condicionan mutuamente y si se modifica la percepción de las ciudades reales representadas.

  Contemporary cities have become a recurring space in television fiction. Many of these cities represent real-life scenes, but they introduce fantastic beings, which sometimes destabilize the foundations of everyday life, meaning an inevitable comparison between the discourses of logos and mythos. With the aim of understanding how this dialectical relationship between cities and monsters is produced, this paper analyses the TV shows Grimm and iZombie, which are set in Portland and Seattle respectively. Both fictions show different types of fantastic beings, thus the first example recovers German fable monsters, while the second case explores the ravages of a zombie infection. Therefore, the goal of this study is the completion of narrative analysis, focused on the settings and characters, analyzing how they interact and if the perception of the real cities represented is changed.
