  • Resumen
    • As language teachers, we have been using a wide variety of games already to make both teaching and learning foreign languages less cumbersome and more fun. Applying gamification in foreign language teaching is especially attractive because of its potential to transform teaching and learning a new language by constantly keeping the ‘fun’ variable. Is gamification what our classes need and when is the right time to gamify? This research is a qualitative one focusing on case studies of experienced teachers teaching different foreign languages in the official school of languages in Tarragona, Girona, and Barcelona, and who are novice in gamification. Before gamifying the teachers enrolled in a gamification course called Gamelex. The research investigates teachers’ perceptions on gamification in th foreign language classroom and their role as teachers when applying this methodology. Within Borg’s (2006) framework of teacher cognition a pre-interview and a post-interview were created and conducted.
