Resumen de Juan de Arfe y la custodia de la Catedral de Ávila: Nuevos datos

  En este estudio presentamos y analizamos nueva documentación sobre el platero Juan de Arfe y su trabajo en la custodia de la catedral de Ávila. El legajo, conservado en el Archivo Diocesano de Ávila, contiene un duplicado del contrato, correspondencia enviada por Arfe al cabildo, cartas de pago y de poder , y la tasación completa de la custodia. A través de estos documentos podremos conocer el nombre de algunos de los oficiales vinculados a su taller y detalles del proceso creativo de la pieza, ampliando significativamente el conocimiento de su primera gran obra .

  In this study we are going to discuss and analyze new documents about the silversmith Juan de Arfe and his work in the monstrance of t he cathedral of Ávila. The file, which has been kept in the Diocesan Archive of Ávila, is composed of a copy of the contract, correspondence sent by Arfe to the church’s incumbents, payment and power letters, and also the complete appraisal of the monstran ce. Furthermore, through these documents, we can know some of the names of the skilled who worked for Arfe and the details of the monstrance creating process. All of this will allow us to increase our knowledge about the artist’s first masterpiece .
