    En este artículo se discutirán diferentes aspectos de la historia de vida realizada a un hombre homosexual de Patamban, Michoacán. Su caso resalta porque fue él mismo quien se presentó ante la investigadora con la petición de que escribiera sobre él. Esta situación excepcional motivó una serie de reflexiones de orden metodológico respecto a la historia de vida como técnica de investigación y sobre lo que puede significar, para un sujeto de estudio, afirmar su identidad mediante la escucha del investigador. Al inicio del artículo se presenta una discusión sobre el contexto del infor- mante; posteriormente se desarrolla la reflexión metodológica; luego, se analizan algunas de las temáticas recurrentes y etapas de la vida destacadas en el relato; y, finalmente, se expone sobre lo que ha significado, para esta investigación, adaptarse a situaciones inesperadas.

    This paper will discuss the different aspects of the history of the life of a homosexual man from Patamban, Michoacán. His case stands out because he presented himself before the researcher with the petition that she wrote about him. This exceptional situation motivated a series of reflections of methodological order in relation to the history of life as a research technique and what it may mean, for a study subject, to affirm his/her identity as is heard by the researcher. At the beginning of the article, a discussion is presented on the context of the informant; then, a methodological reflection developed. Subsequently, some of the recurrent topics are analyzed and the stages of life highlighted in the account; and finally, it is related what has all meant, for this research, to adapt to unexpected situations.
