    A mediados del siglo XIV, el monarca Carlos IV de Bohemia y un continuador redactan la "Vita Caroli IV", tendente a confirmar el determinante papel que se le ha asignado a este rey en la historia de su reino y en la del imperio. El propósito del presente trabajo es el de analizarm en primer lugar, cómo se elaboró la obra y en qué tradición se incardina; y, en segundo lugar, cómo pudo ser comprendida e interpretada tanto por sus coetáneos como por la posteridad.

    In the middle of the fourteenth century, the monarch Charles IV of Bohemia and a continuator wrote the "Vita Karoli IV" tending to confirm the decisive rol that has been assigned to this king in the history of his kingdom and in that of the Empire. The purpose of the present work is to analyze, firstly, how the work was elaborated and in wich tradition it is incardinated; and, secondly, how it could be understood and interpreted by both contemporaries and posterity.
