Ce que le sida m’a fait. Art et activisme à la fin du XXe siècle (“Lo que me hizo el sida. Arte y activismo a finales del siglo xx”), el último magnum opus de la historiadora y crítica de arte Élisabeth Levovici, da cuenta de lo que el sida hizo a las personas, a las imágenes y a la práctica misma de la crítica y de la historia del arte. Treinta años después de la aparición del número fundador de la revista October, dirigida por Fouglas Crimp y dedicada a las implicaciones culturales de la epidemia de sida, así como a los usos políticos de sus representaciones (“AIDS: Cultural Analysis/Cultural Activism”), esta “historia moral” y militante escrita en primera persona es en efecto la de un trastorno mayor, tanto personal como colectivo. Ensayos monográficos, temáticos y entrevistas abordan los “años sida” sin por ello pretender la exhaustividad pero sin dejar de estar cerca, como apegados al corazón, de todo aquello que cuenta para la autora.

Ce que le sida m’a fait. Art et activisme à la fin du xxe siècle (“What AIDS Has Done to Me. Art and Activism at the End of the 20th Century”) — the latest magnum opus by the art historian and art critic Élisabeth Lebovici assesses what AIDS has done to beings, images and the very practice of criticism and art history. Thirty years after the publication of the seminal issue of October (AIDS: Cultural Analysis/Cultural Activism edited by Douglas Crimp), and focusing on the cultural implications of the AIDS epidemic and the political uses of its representations, this “moral” and activist history written in the first person is indeed the story of a major upheaval, both personal and collective. Monographic and thematic essays and interviews revolve around the “AIDS years”, and – without claiming to be exhaustive – are always as close as possible to the heart of everything that mattered to the author.
