Is "Homo politicus " a "Homo œconomicus "? Disciplinary frontiers are historically mobile and a privileged locus of conceptual and methodological confrontations. The explanation of political choice is presently a subject of study common to economics and political science. This two-fold investigation is producing a stimulating confrontation. The analysis of the economic conceptualization reveals the difficulty it meets in explaining electoral abstention and participation and the obscurity of the concept of interest for understanding political choice. Lastly, the question is raised of the relevance of applying neo-classic economic concepts to electoral behavior.

Les frontières entre disciplines sont historiquement mouvantes et le lieu privilégié d'affrontements conceptuels et méthodologiques. L'explication du choix politique est actuellement un objet d'étude commun aux sciences économiques et politique. Cette double investigation produit une confrontation stimulante. L'analyse de la conceptualisation économique révèle, notamment, la difficulté de celle-ci à expliquer les comportements d'abstention et de participation électorales et l'obscurité de l'utilisation de la notion d'intérêt pour comprendre le choix politique. Finalement, est posée la question de la pertinence de l'application aux comportements électoraux des concepts économiques néo-classiques.
